The chalet, room by room

Two floors of a family building, three hundred square metres of them yours. The floor above is the family’s own; it is locked, and nobody is in it while you are here.

Living

The main living room runs along the window wall, with the fireplace at one end and the piano and games table at the other. In the afternoon the sun comes all the way in.

The kitchens

The main kitchen is old larch and black stone, open to the dining table. The terrace doors are beside it, so in summer the two rooms become one.

There is a second kitchen on the floor below, behind sliding larch doors. Closed, it reads as a wall. Open, it is a second full kitchen — which is what makes cooking for ten possible without anyone queuing.

Sleeping

Ten people sleep across four rooms. Two are conventional bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The other two — the games room and the TV room — are flexible rooms: each has a proper door that closes and a double sofa bed.

We call them sofa-bed rooms because that is what they are. If what you need is four conventional bedrooms, this is not the right chalet.

Bathrooms

Three and a half. Each of the two bedrooms has its own. A third sits beside the sauna and is shared. The half is a separate guest WC.

Sauna, gym and the practical rooms

The sauna is a Klafs, with the shared bathroom next to it. Along the corridor there is a ski and boot room, and a utility room with a washer and a dryer.

The gym holds a full rig and rack, Olympic bars, a complete dumbbell set, a TRX, bands, a Peloton, a ski erg and a rower. It is available on request and it is for adults only — a safety condition, not a formality. It is not open by default.

Outside

The main terrace seats ten on benches, with a barbecue and loungers, and looks down the valley. A second terrace off the kitchen seats eight. Table tennis lives under the covered section. Two outdoor parking spaces come with the chalet; the garage does not.

Worth knowing

The floor above: The family keeps it. It is locked and unoccupied during your stay.
Parking: Two outdoor spaces. The garage is not included.
Heating: An air-source heat pump. There is no gas anywhere in the building.
Internet: High-speed internet throughout.
Smoking: Not inside.
